Clifton, Western Cape
Hundreds of TV commercials, films and music videos have been shot at the Clifton beaches. As soon as you are in Cape Town, go and see why.
There are four beaches in Clifton, all of which are regarded as being among the most beautiful in the world, and now home to some of the most sought after real estate in the southern hemisphere.
Clifton is the perfect location for sunbathing, beach sports, people-watching and relaxing. An added bonus because of Cape Town's extended daylight hours in summer - beach-goers can tan until as late as 6.30pm.
There is an abundance of restaurants and shopping centres to explore. A must-visit spot is the Bungalow Restaurant and Lounge, which is an elegant mixture of glamour and rustic charm.
If you're looking for something fun and challenging, then take part in the 1st Sunday of the month swim. The swim is from Fourth Beach to First Beach, and back.
Clifton's beaches are less than five km from the Cape Town city centre. Parking can be quite scarce during summer months, so taxis are often the best option from the CBD.
