FlySafair still SA's most punctual airline

December 2018 - Each month, Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) publishes On-Time Performance (OTP) statistics, a measure of an airline's airport operational efficiency, for OR Tambo, King Shaka, and Cape Town International Airports.

According to ACSA's results for November 2018, First Car Rental's airline partner, FlySafair, has once again walked away with the year-to-date top spot for punctuality.

The OTP is determined by comparing an airline's scheduled departure time with actual 'off block' time - when the plane starts moving. Done in accordance with the IATA (International Airlines Transport Association) universal standard benchmark, a 15-minute deviation from the scheduled time is considered an on-time departure.

On average, 93.7% of FlySafair's flights depart within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure times, putting the airline in top position at OR Tambo, King Shaka and Cape Town International Airports.

FlySafair was also recently was named Aircraft Operator of the Year at the South African Civil Aviation Excellence Awards. In addition to this, the airline was also named a finalist in the Aviation Safety category and took second place in the Aviation Customer Services category.
