Awarded 2014/2015 Top 500 Best Managed Company in South Africa
October 2015 - First Car Rental is proud to announce that it has been recognised as a 2014/2015 Top 500 Best Managed South African company for the seventh year.
The Top500: South Africa's Best Managed Companies - is the definitive guide to South Africa's most successful businesses, recognising those companies that not only excel in their specific sectors, but which also have a strong set of social, empowerment and development policies in place.
Top500 Companies are announced annually by TopCo Media after a rigorous selection process that sees over 4000 South African businesses analysed on key spheres of achievement. The top five most successful companies per sector are then chosen from 100 sectors, hence the Top 500.
Top500 criteria
Financial Performance. Financial performance speaks to the ideas of top companies being large, growing, profitable and productive institutions that are leaders by virtue of their size and dynamism. This sphere is measured by four indicators: turnover, rate of growth, rate of profit, and employee contribution rate. Financial performance is the most important aspect in deciding South Africa's Top500 companies, accounting for two-thirds of the overall score.
People. Top500 companies are required to be at the forefront of people development, with this sphere measuring a company's commitment to promoting equality, social transformation and training in the workplace. This accounts for one-fifth out of the overall score.
Policy & Accreditation. Top500 companies are involved within communities and are committed to quality. This sphere gauges companies' engagement, as well as their existence of written policies, and accounts for one-fifth out of the overall score.
