FlySafair marks its first year in operation
Since its launch, domestic flight prices have dropped 39%
October 2015 - FlySafair, First Car Rental's official airline partner, launched its maiden flight on the 16 October 2014. FlySafair's first routes were between Cape Town and Johannesburg and Cape Town and Port Elizabeth only.
In 12 months of operation, the airline has gone from strength-to-strength, launching six additional routes across South Africa, also refitting its planes with ergonomic seats and upgrading its fleet to the 'next-generation' fuel-efficient Boeing 737-800s.
Since FlySafair launched, domestic fares in South Africa have fallen by as much as 39%. The airline also maintains the best on-time performance in South Africa, with 95% of departures happening within ACSA's required 15-minute grace period.
SA's newest domestic airline part of a 50-year heritage
While FlySafair may appear to be South Africa's newest low-cost airline, it is part of a 50-year aviation heritage under the wings of parent company, Safair. Safair is Africa's largest specialised aviation charter company, recently celebrating its 50th year in business.

Durban and East London routes launch this month
From 25 October, and just in time for the holidays, FlySafair begins flying between Durban and Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, East London and Johannesburg, and East London and Cape Town. Bookings for these new routes are open now (the earlier you book the less you pay), with flights starting from as low as R399 one way.
